Platte County EDC works with a number of workforce partners who offer training and education opportunities. For a full list of Platte County Workforce Providers, please click here.

In addition, many Platte County employers offer a wide variety of education opportunities, including tuition reimbursement.

Some of our key partners are:

The Full Employment Council is a business-led, private, nonprofit corporation whose mission is to obtain public and private sector employment for the unemployed and underemployed residents of the Greater Kansas City area. Adults and Youth can take advantage of classroom training (scholarships and financial assistance available); internships & work experience; on-the-job training. FEC also offers training for those people with special learning needs or learning difficulties to help make them employment-ready.

The Missouri Community College New Jobs Training Program Provides assistance in reducing the cost associated with
expanding a workforce or locating a new facility in the state of Missouri through training services:

  • Training customized to the specific needs of the industry;
  • General occupational skill training.

The Missouri Customized Training Program provides assistance to eligible Missouri businesses to reduce training costs and improve productivity. Individual businesses creating net new jobs in the state or retaining existing jobs in Missouri as a result of a substantial capital investment may be eligible.

Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods is part of the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) system and offers associate programs along with transfer and occupational programs. The MCC system operates throughout the Kansas City metro area and is an important resource for employers. Also within the MCC system is the Business & Technology College which has been instrumental in providing special training programs for area employers.

Northland CAPS

In 2013, Northland CAPS launched as a joint operation between the Smithville, Kearney, Liberty, North Kansas City, Park Hill and Platte County school districts, providing high school students in the Northland with a professional, innovative and entrepreneurial education through career oriented experiences that are real time, hands-on and real-world.  Northland CAPS students are immersed in professional environments engaging in curriculum driven by industry professionals, delivered by certified instructors.  Learning is driven by project work directly from industry partners who engage to mentor students and ensure timely, accurate and real project results. Emphasis is placed on developing professional skills, such as project management, collaboration and business ethics, which employers deem highly important to early career success.

Park Hill Professional Studies

The Park Hill Professional Studies provides students with authentic learning experiences and meaningful professional connections.  Through partnerships with individuals and businesses, Professional Studies connects what is being taught in the classroom and what occurs in the workplace.  Park Hill’s Professional Studies business partners provide its students with a firsthand perspective of the professional skills and responsibilities required on the job.  Partners provide students with authentic learning experiences establishing a clear connection between education and work.  Students select an internship based on personal career interest and gain hands-on professional experiences.

Park University in Parkville is a Master’s Degree-granting comprehensive college. The main campus is in Parkville but Park University has locations nationwide and throughout the metro area. Park offers many majors including specialization in sports medicine and international business. The college also has a job placement office at the Parkville campus and is eager to assist their students and area employers. Park has large business, management and computer degree programs offered for working adults, and an MBA degree program among others.

The Northland Career Center, located in Platte City, offers many training programs such as health services, marketing, diesel mechanics and many others. The school has a vocational evaluation center for individual assessment, a learning center for basic skills, a vocational program for disabled or disadvantaged students and several programs for adult students. For many years the Center has been a supplier of excellent workers.
