Platte County Students Participate in 2016 National Manufacturing Day

Platte County Park Hill and Platte County R-3 students participated in National Manufacturing Day activities. Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers and takes place on the first Friday in October. Manufacturing Day addresses common misperceptions about the industry by allowing businesses to open their doors and show what manufacturing is.  A total of 70 students had the opportunity to tour three local advanced manufacturing companies: Multivac, Haldex, and Marlen International.

Students had the opportunity to tour the facility floors and see equipment being manufactured firsthand. They visited the different departments to learn about career opportunities available in the industry and the education required for different positions. All three company tours were a success, and the companies reported they enjoyed hosting the students and look forward to future opportunities to engage with education partners.

Multivac is a leading provider worldwide of packaging solutions for food, medical, and pharmaceutical products as well as industrial and consumer goods.

Haldex develops and manufactures brake systems for heavy trucks, trailers and buses. The product offering covers all primary components and subsystems included in complete air brake systems.

Marlen International is a manufacturer of highly engineered food processing equipment and systems.
