2025 Q1 Luncheon: Women at the Heart of Development

The Platte County Economic Development Council (PCEDC) hosted its first Quarterly Member Luncheon on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the KCI Expo Center. This event featured four guest panelists who shared their development experiences, insight, and wisdom as influential female leaders:

  • Christa AtchisonSenior Economic Development Manager – Evergy
  • Samantha JeffersonVice President, Corporate Attraction – Emerging Sectors – Kansas City Area Development Council
  • Morgan MutertDirector, Business Development & Governmental Affairs – Hunt Midwest
  • Taylor Pohlman, President – Ridgeline Low Voltage

PCEDC Chairman Brian Johanning of Superior Bowen opened the luncheon by welcoming attendees and acknowledging elected officials and other key stakeholders, including high-level investors and board members. He also recognized four new PCEDC investors: Aerotek, BSE Structural Engineers, Opus, and VanTrust Real Estate.

Following his remarks, PCEDC Executive Director Tina Chace provided an update on new organizational initiatives, highlighting the Industry Roundtables and NexGen Institute. She then welcomed the event’s featured panelists to the stage to officially begin the program. Each panelist, representing different aspects of development, shared their perspectives on the industry and the current trends impacting their roles.

During the discussion, panelists also shared insights on their unique career journeys, showcasing that success isn’t always linear. Representing different stages of their careers, each panelist shared stories of mentors who helped shape their professional experiences in the industry. Additionally, they discussed strategies for achieving a healthy work-life balance while managing their leadership responsibilities and some of the lessons learned along the way.
