The Platte County Economic Development Council (PCEDC) hosted its second Quarterly Member Luncheon on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa. This event featured the 48th Lieutenant Governor of Missouri, Mike Kehoe, who discussed the importance of workforce and infrastructure throughout not only the Kansas City region, but the state as a whole.
PCEDC Vice-Chairman Darren Hennen of Olsson kicked off the luncheon by recognizing many of the elected officials, high-level PCEDC investors, board members, new members, and special guests in attendance. The event was proudly sponsored by Superior Bowen. Trey Bowen, CEO of the company, spent a few minutes on stage showcasing Superior Bowen and their investment in the Northland, before introducing the Lieutenant Governor and inviting him on stage.
Lt. Governor Kehoe referenced the significant momentum happening in Platte County and throughout the Kansas City region. From the opening of the new $1.5B KCI Terminal, to the 2023 NFL Draft and upcoming 2026 World Cup, Kansas City is certainly on the map. The Lt. Governor also called out Hunt Midwest’s 3,300-acre KCI 29 Logistics Park, which recently broke ground and announced its first tenant, Ace Hardware, as well as the new Northland Workforce Development Center. Both developments are major game changers for Platte County, bringing significant capital investment and a new pool of workers into the Northland.
The words “teamwork” and “collaboration” were also frequently used. The Lt. Governor made note of how PCEDC and other area economic development organizations work well together and with their state partners to champion development and attract new companies to the Kansas City metro.
Thank you, Lt. Governor Kehoe, for taking time out of your busy schedule to participate in our luncheon and interact with our group! We sincerely appreciate all of your support for infrastructure and workforce development within our region.
