Platte County CARES “Survive & Thrive” Small Business Grant Program

Allison SchultzNews

The Platte County Commission established the CARES “Survive & Thrive” Small Business Grant Program on June 8, 2020 to be administered by the Platte County EDC. This program utilizes their CARES Act funds to assist small businesses in Platte County, Missouri.

This program offers grant funding for two purposes:

1. SURVIVE:  shorter-term, smaller amount grant awards intended to keep businesses up and running.

2. THRIVE: longer-term, larger amount grant awards intended to help businesses regain momentum and promote expansion (currently the program is not accepting “THRIVE” applications at this time).

Platte County small businesses support our county and region each and every day through their efforts to support the community. Small businesses are a ground for entrepreneurs, a vibrant source of innovation and competition, and an essential source of employment in the region. Protecting them during the COVID -19 crises will be important for supporting the eventual recovery.

The program is to be authorized and implemented by the Platte County Commission to enable the distribution of funds from the CARES Act for the purpose of providing assistance to small businesses due to COVID-19 related business closures. Only Platte County, MO small businesses may apply.

This initial round of “SURVIVE” funding will cover expenses related to business interruption caused by closures from March 1, 2020 through June 30, 2020. Small businesses are encouraged to apply right away. The first round of review and awards begins June 29, 2020. The amount of funds to distribute through the Program shall be determined solely at the discretion of the Platte County Commission. After evaluation by an Advisory Committee, the Platte County Commission then will determine the successful applicants under the grant application process and shall determine the amount of each grant.

Application deadline: July 31, 2020
