Kansas City breaks ground on Platte County road realignment and reconstruction project

City of Kansas City leaders gathered in Kansas City, Platte County  to kick off a reconstruction project on NW Prairie View Road. 2nd District Councilmembers Dan Fowler and Teresa Loar  joined project representatives and partners at the August 6th groundbreaking.

“This project is another example of patience and tenacity; a project many years in the making,” said Alicia Stephens, PCEDC Ex The  Prairie View Road realignment will address the serious safety and traffic flow concerns at the I-29 intersection.  The TDD’s along the alignment  have been an excellent use of an infrastructure financing tool.”

This project will include the complete relocation of NW Prairie View Road on the north side of NW 64th Street and realign it with the existing N Chatham Avenue. The project improvements include:

  • Curb and gutter
  • Asphalt pavement
  • Sidewalks
  • Bike lanes
  • Realignment of driveways and private drives
  • Storm sewer
  • Water main relocation
  • Street lighting and sod

The $2.7 million project was funded with Transportation Development District dollars along with city capital improvement dollars. The project will be completed in spring 2019. To follow project updates, click here.
