Students from seven school districts in the Northland attend Northland Career Center (NCC). NCC started an Aviation Technology program in August 2015, a two-year program for High School students or one-year, full-time program for adult students. The curriculum was developed through a partnership with Aviation Technical Services, Inc. and State Technical College of Missouri. NCC began last year with 13 high school students and two adult students. This year, they have 22 high school students and two adult students. The students learn aircraft blueprints/drawings, avionics, aircraft structure and composition, aircraft sheet metal and welding, aircraft systems and components, as well as safety and the human factor. Northland Career Center emphasizes employability soft skills.
Last year, three of NCC’s students were hired by ATS – two adult students and one high school graduate. ATS continues its partnership with NCC by providing tours, speakers, aircraft parts and program advisory.
