On Friday, September 16, the Platte County Economic Development Council, in partnership with the Northland Regional Chamber and Clay County Economic Development Council, held the annual Northland Joint Luncheon at the KCI Hilton.
More than 300 people attended the lunch, including local businesspeople, elected officials and major PCEDC partners.
Visit KC CEO Ronnie Burt was the luncheon’s keynote speaker. Burt spoke to the impact the visitor industry has on the region, including the $1.2 billion economic impact of Platte and Clay counties.
During his presentation, Burt provided insight into his organization’s work in attracting media attention as well as major sporting events and conventions and. He showed attendees several new short videos Visit KC is using to keep attracting visitors to the region, and Burt reconfirmed Visit’s KC support of a new single terminal at KCI Airport.
Platte County EDC Chairwoman Patricia Jensen of White Goss recognized elected officials present, the three organizations’ board members and the attendance of students from the Park Hill professional studies program, Northland Caps and Northland Career Center.
Platte County Economic Development Council will host its next quarterly luncheon in the form of its annual Business Excellence Luncheon on December 9th at the Embassy Suites Kansas City.
