At a recent workforce summit in Kansas City the following statement
was heard, "90% of U.S. mayors say workforce development is
one of the most serious challenges facing their cities; 60% say
that they have trouble attracting new business because their residents
have deficient workplace skills."
This will not be the case in Platte County. Consider the following
facts.
In recent student and employer surveys, it was interesting to find
that the top priorities were the same for each group even though
the order was somewhat different. All agreed that:
- Respect and appreciation are important to workers.
- Benefits rank high in importance.
- Challenging work is critical.
- Flexibility in scheduling is helpful.
