Community Profile

Riverside (population 2,964) is one of the best-kept secrets of Platte County. Riverside is located in the southwest tip of Platte County, alongside the Missouri River. Riverside is home to St. Matthew's Church and Renner-Brenner Park; both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Riverside is a community that is in the process of re-making itself. From public improvements such as roads, sidewalks and the construction of a new city hall and public safety building, to private development such as the recent expansion of the popular Corner Café and the building of a new Performing Arts Center, Riverside is undergoing a makeover. Riverside is home to Argosy Riverboat Casino - with a current expansion underway - which provides a source of revenue used for the redevelopment of the city's infrastructure. Argosy completed an expansion of the existing casino in 2003 and another expansion in 2004. The casino is located next to the Army Corps of Engineers $80 million Riverside-Quindaro Bend Levee project. The levee which will free 1,200 acres of flood-prone land for development was completed in 2004.
